Tommy Cheis is a Chiricahua Apache writer and guide from the Dragoon Mountains. After traveling through distant lands and meeting interesting people, he lives with his horses in Arizona. His stories (will) appear in Yellow Medicine Review, Rome Review, After Dinner Conversation, Chicago Stories, NonBinary Review, Ploughshares, Carpe Noctem, ZiN Daily, Medicine & Meaning, Another Chicago Magazine, Invisible City, Call Me [Brackets], Rigorous, UNM's Look to the Mountains Anthology, and many other publications. He is the recipient of the Colonel Darron L. Wright Memorial Writing Award, and his work has been nominated for the PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize and the Pushcart Prize. His work also appears on the CLMP Reading List for Native American Heritage Month 2024. His novel RARE EARTH is under submission.
